Title: Original Original Ken Phillips painted hope chest signed by Sean Swarner entitled “Summits of Hope”
Sean Swarner, two time childhood cancer survivor will go down in history as the first cancer survivor to summit Mount Everest. Sean was first diagnosed at age 13 with Stage IV Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and less than two years later he was diagnosed with a second cancer, Askin’s sarcoma where he lost the full use of his lungs.
Miraculously with the partial use of one lung, Sean has climbed each of the 7 highest peaks of each continent. These include Mt. Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Aconcagua, Vision Massif, Kosciusko, and most recently Denali/Mt. McKinley.
Talented landscape artist Ken Phillips has captured each of these summits on this beautifully painted hope chest. Each mountain scene is accompanied with a brass plaque giving details of the name of the mountain, and date of Sean’s summit.
