Thank you for your support!
On November 16th, 2007 the first annual Naomi’s Hope for a Cure gala celebrated the lives of the 13,000 children and adolescents who are diagnosed with cancer each year in the U.S. by coming together with a common goal—to fund research towards a complete cure for childhood cancer.
Cancer is a devastating disease, but even more so in the body of a little child. In spite of aggressive treatments, one third will die. More children still die from cancer than any other disease. Two thirds of those who do survive will face chronic health issues as a direct result of their cancer treatments. One third of these late-effects are life-threatening and can include secondary cancers. While the survival rate for adult cancers continues to increase, there has been NO change in the overall survival rate for childhood cancer in the last decade. Children with cancer need new types of ‘smart drugs’ to give them hope for a future and a complete cure.
We would like to thank everyone for their love and support for making the first annual 'Naomi’s Hope for a Cure' a huge success. Because of your generous contributions we have raised a quarter of a million dollars to fund research towards the development of new types of targeted therapies to treat children and adolescents with cancer!
